Homosassa Spring is one of the best places to see manatee, especially in the winter when they journey inland seeking warmer water. The staff at the park also care for and rehabilitate injured manatees. You will not only see manatee, but black bears, red wolf, Key deer, and alligators. After paying at the Visitor Center, you can stroll the meandering one mile trail where you will visit animals who were brought to the center when they were no longer able to live in the wild on their own. Daily programs are offered including guided bird walks. Choose one of the picnic tables if you want to have lunch there after your tour.

The clear spring waters attract nature enthusiasts from all over. Kayaking and snorkeling are two of the gentler activities to explore the area. Hang out quietly with the manatee mothers and their calves, or poke around in the mangroves which serve as fish hatcheries for the local species.  If you want speed, there are airboat adventures, too.
